About Us

Abergavenny Film Society was established in 1978 by Dave and Carol Phillips and a group of friends making it the longest running film society in Wales. We are a not for profit community cinema showing films fortnightly from September to March. We offer films selected from World and UK Independent Cinema titles. The Society offers carefully chosen programmes which are both diverse and inclusive, showcasing some of the best modern cinema in the world. We screen our films at the Melville Centre for the Arts in Abergavenny. We are pleased to be able to offer high-definition picture and sound quality in a comfortable studio theatre with excellent acoustics.

Films are screened on Wednesdays, fortnightly, at 4.30pm and 7.30pm from September through to March. The 7.30pm screening has a 20-minute intermission. There is a licensed café bar which will be open 30 minutes prior to the 4.30pm screening, between the screenings and during the 20 minute intermission of the 7.30pm screening.

We encourage our audience to give feedback on the films screened by rating each film after it has been screened, either on a feedback form at the venue or replying to an email sent after each film. This valuable feedback helps us with future programming.
