Bo, an aspiring photojournalist, flees her abusive father in Ventiane, Laos. Along the way she encounters Satu, a Buddhist orphan who might just have the story she’s looking for. When a bomb endangers the Pha Tang temple, Satu and his new travelling companion decide to head north through the rich, feral and breathtaking landscapes of Laos to uncover Satu’s origins and to find his long-lost mother. A heartwarming coming-of-age journey that explores independence and developing friendships, Satu – Year of The Rabbit is the directorial debut of Welshman Joshua Trigg and was shot entirely on 16mm film by Cornish-based cinematographer James Chegwyn.
