Michelle enjoys a peaceful retirement in a small Burgundy village near her longtime friend Marie-Claude. She eagerly anticipates grandson Lucas spending the school vacation with her but an unfortunate mistake overturns these plans. Michelle’s relationship with her daughter becomes strained and she loses her sense of purpose until Marie-Claude’s son is released from prison and enters the picture. As a character portrait, study of generational tensions and a tense drama with a thriller element, we are led to believe that this is one of Ozon’s more realistic films. Sly storytelling and Hélène Vincent’s terrific lead performance make this an intriguing and relishable offering.
