A powerful and graceful adaptation of a best-selling novel by Canadian poet Anne Michael. The story begins in Poland in 1942. Athos, a Greek archaeologist, finds a Jewish boy, Jakob, who has witnessed his parents murdered by the Nazis and his sister abducted. Athos smuggles the boy to Greece. Ultimately the pair move to Canada. Here Jakob, now an adult, becomes increasingly haunted by the past and his missing sister. This terrible burden prevents him reaching out to the world and only a woman’s love can lead him out of the darkness. A heart-warming and unforgettable story.
