Carla is the under appreciated long-term secretary of a property firm. She is hard working, always the first to arrive and the last to leave and all this while suffering from a hearing defect. She persuades her employers to get her an assistant and into her life comes Paul, a younger ex-con. Now each begins to see qualities in the other. This is a romance that develops into a fast-moving heist story. As trust becomes the issue the tension builds. Audiard skilfully weaves suspense into this alluring tale.
