Liam’s 16th birthday approaches and he looks forward to his mother’s release from prison. He lives in the dismal streets of Glasgow and in the company of his mother’s boyfriend, Stan and his mean-spirited grandfather. Hope looks bleak. He is determined to take his mother and sister away to a safe haven and set about a scheme to raise the cash for this. Now he is dangerously out of his depth. He knows he should walk away but this time he cannot let go of his dream. A coming-of-age story with Loach’s trade-mark gritty realism.
