It takes a clever man to make money. It takes a genius to stay alive. Salomon ʻSallyʼ Sorowitsch is a master counterfeiter. He lives a roguish life of booze, women and cards. His luck runs out when he is arrested by the Nazis and sent to a concentration camp. There his talents are noticed and he is enrolled in Operation Bernard, a secret Nazi plan to destroy their enemiesʼ economies by flooding them with millions of forged banknotes.
