Poppy (Sally Hawkins) is a joyful, free-spirited young primary school
teacher. Whether preparing lessons for class or out on the busy London streets on her bicycle, Poppy treats life with the same unshakeable enthusiasm. Nothing gets her down, even the theft of her bicycle merely opens up the opportunity to learn to drive. Her instructor, Scott, is an uptight individual who represents everything Poppy is not. Mike Leigh re-teams with Hawkins whose performance lights up the screen with infectious energy. Happy Go Lucky is a more positive take on Britain from the veteran director.
