In this nerve-shredding and superbly thrilling drama, Mads Mikkelsen gives a penetrating portrayal of Lucas, a nursery school teacher in a small Danish town. Lucas is rebuilding his life after a divorce and the loss of his job when his life is torn apart by false allegations. Lucas becomes a victim both of something awry in complacent Danish society and the dangerous lies told by an innocent but deluded child. First slowly, then rapidly, Lucas is buried in an avalanche of suspicion, the very weight of which turns accusation into conviction and transforms the victim’s existing doubts into paranoia. Mikkelsen won the Best Actor Award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
