The cargo ship MV Rozen is in dangerous waters and heading for harbour when it is hijacked by Somali pirates. Among the men on board is the ship’s cook Mikkel (Pilou Asbeek) who, along with the rest of the seamen, is taken hostage in a cynical game of life and death. With the demand for a ransom of millions of dollars, a psychological drama unfolds between the chief executive of the shipping company (Søren Malling) and the Somali pirates. Director Lindholm, who also wrote The Hunt and Borgen, spins an exacting drama out of a crisis in this deft account of piracy in the Indian Ocean.
