God is a cantankerous, vindictive Belgian who runs his operation from an apartment in Brussels. Time has made The Almighty cruel and capricious. Consequently, his ten-year old daughter, Ea, decides to write her own brand new testament with the help of six of her own disciples. The revolt of young Ea begins with her performing a few minor miracles and sending every person in the world an individual text message that has a dramatic impact on the daily routine of anyone who reads it. Featuring Catherine Deneuve as God’s wife, Van Dormael’s divinely entertaining and flamboyant observation of the absurdity of organised religion is conceived with wit and executed with style.
