In contemporary Russia, two teenage boys confront new and conflicting emotions as their father returns after a twelve year absence. The man they know only through a single photograph suddenly takes them on holiday to a remote island on a lake, supposedly to go fishing. However, the father’s behaviour towards them draws out different and ultimately tragic responses from his sons. The beautiful photography of the primeval Russian coastline provides a backdrop story of myth for the modern era. In Russian with English subtitles.
