In the ghetto language of Johannesburg, Tsotsi means “Thug” or “Gangster”. This Oscar winning film is set in the sprawling township of Soweto. It traces 6 days in the life titular character, a ruthless gang leader. Tsotsi’s life is one of violence and theft for which he feels no remorse. Then, one day, he steals a car with an infant on the back seat. This infant brings up memories of his own terrible childhood and a powerful realisation begins to dawn on him. A gripping and evocative drama. In Afrikaans and Tsotsi Taal with English subtitles.
