This is the story of Bandit Queen Phoolan Devi (“Goddess of Flowers”) who became a heroine in India (a modern day Robin Hood). Born amongst the untouchable class, she was sold into marriage at the age of 12 to a middle age man. Following abuse at the hands off her husband, she fights back and driven by anger, leads a group of outlaws in a series of attacks against the Indian upper cast Thakurs. This is a powerful and at times surprising depiction of the woman behind the legend.
