Elling, a neurotic middle-aged man, has a nervous breakdown when his mother dies and is institutionalised. There he meets fellow patient Kjell Bjarne, a gentle giant and female obsessed virgin. When the two are released into the outside world they are paralyzed by fear, where a trip to the corner shop becomes a major challenge. But the oddball friends can survive and discover new ways to meet society. Elling is a warm, sensitive and humorous story about venturing into life.
In Norwegian with English subtitles.
