Seven year-old Olive Hoover’s family is dysfunctional in the extreme. Richard, her dad, is a failing motivational speaker. His wife Sheryl is a chain smoker. Her gay uncle Frank has attempted suicide following a failed love affair. Her brother has taken a vow of silence and Grandpa is a drug addict. Little Olive has a dream to win the Little Miss Sunshine contest, so the family set off on a journey of misadventure to the pageant in California. A quirky, endearing and funny comedy which won two Oscars including one for Alan Arkin as Grandpa.
