The resurgence of German cinema continues with the 2007 Oscar winner ‘The Lives Of Others’. Set in East Germany in the early 1980’s, successful playwright Georg Dreyman and his girlfriend, the popular actress Christa-Maria Sieland, draw the unwanted attention of Germany’s secret police, the Stasi. Captain Gerd Wiesler is given the honour of collecting evidence against them by bugging their every conversation. As he immerses himself in the couple’s lives he becomes more and more fascinated by them. A tense, riveting, political thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. In German with English subtitles.
