Marji is an outspoken 8 year old girl at the time of the Iranian revolution. As she grows up she finds her unique perspective on life repeatedly challenged by the country’s fundamentalist rulers. Worried for her safety, her parents send her to school in Austria, but here Marji finds different obstacles. Persepolis is an animated film development of the graphic novel by Marjane on ‘Marji’ Satrapi, based on her own coming of age experiences and search for a place to belong. It won the Jury prize at Cannes in 2007 and two César awards.
