Sanjuro, a masterless Samurai, wanders into a town divided by two warring factions. After proving his formidable swordsmanship in a street brawl, he sells his services to the highest bidder. When one clan conspires against him he switches sides and begins to trick the foolish clans in to exterminating each other. When Unosuke arrives with a modern device, a gun, Sanjuro’s authority is challenged and the old world must face the modern.
Kurosawa’s expert direction, a masterful performance by Toshiré Mifune and beautiful photography make Yomibo one of the funniest and finest films in Japanese cinema.
