The only film directed by Charles Laughton. This is a noir thriller full of suspense. This is the story of a boy and girl, good and evil and the struggle for souls of innocent children. When their father is sent to prison for stealing money, he hides his ill-gotten gains in his daughter’s doll, instructing his children never to tell. While behind bars he mumbles in his sleep and his cellmate the sinister Reverend Harry Powell overhears him. On Powell’s release the Preacher sets out to get the stolen loot for himself.
